Chapter 10

— Madeline’s POV —

“How is my favorite girl?”Kyle appeared with his hand behind his back. We were at lunch and I decided to stay with him for once. I didn’t want to see Lorin for a while because it will be really awkward. Today was surprisingly hot and we had lunch outside today.

We sat at the stone round tables outside in the courtyard. Daisy was still ignoring me but I made a new friend. Her name is Grace and she is a human. Finally, I have a human friend! As much as I love the pack, I want to try to socialize with humans.

“Great. What are you hiding?”I smiled up at him. He held one of his hands out for me to hold. I held his hand and he pulled me up. I looked at him confused, which he ignored.

“We are going out for a walk.”He smiled.I nodded and we walked to the field. No one was there besides us. We stood out in the middle of the field.

“Close your eyes.”He ordered. I gave him a questioning look but closed me eyes. I felt him pull my hair to the side and something cool fell against my neck. I knew it wasn’t Lorin’s necklace because I left it home. Kyle was questioning too much about it. I didn’t want to find out about Lorin. He would definitely kill him.

“You can open your eyes now.” I opened my eyes and looked down at my neck. There placed around it was a necklace. It was sliver and had a moon on it. It said ‘ I love you to the moon and back’. I picked it up and in really small writing behind it was engraved C + A.I smiled at it. Tears threatening to fall. I turned around and faced Kyle.

“I love it.”I whispered and stood on my toes. I pressed a kiss on his lips. He leaned down and kissed back. His arms went around my waist and mine went around his neck. This kiss was different from the others. It was filled with so much love and passion. Some tears fell from my eyes. We pulled away and he pecked my lips one more time before grabbing my hand. We walked to the courtyard.

I wrapped my arm around his torso and his hand went around my shoulder, still holding my hand. We were both smiling as we took a seat next to our friends.

“Why are you smiling so much?”Mars eyed us. I looked at Kyle and kissed his cheek.

“Nothing.”I smiled up at Kyle. He gave me a cheeky grin.

“Okay.”He eyed us. We just smiled and it faded when I heard some squealing. I looked to see where it was coming frim. It was a group of girls around some guy. I rolled my eyes and stole a chip from Grace’s tray.

“Hey!”I stuck my tongue at her. She rolled her eyes and kept eating. I looked at our group and noticed they were all tense. Kyle had an angry look on his face. I grabbed his hand and he turned to me.

“What’s wrong?”I asked, looking up at him as I ran my thumb over his knuckles which was difficult considering that he has huge hands.

“Rogue.”He looked at the group of girls squealing. I made an ‘o’ shape with my lips.

“He’s the new student here but he can come here since the school is half our territory and the other is his.”Mars growled. I nodded and smiled at them, weakly. Their faces soften a bit but you could still see the anger in their eyes.

“Who’s he?”I asked. They nodded over to the figure around the girls. I only saw his back as he walked with some friends to another table. I furrowed my eyebrows. Once he sat down my eyes widen. Lorin. He caught me staring and he winked. I heard a low possessive growl come from Kyle.

I glanced at the table and saw that Grace look confused. He got up and I turned around, wanting to slap my self to see if this was real. I felt a tap on my shoulder and cursed in my head. I looked in their direction.

“Miss me?”

I blinked a few times.

“What are you doing here?”Kyle growled. Lorin smirked, not taking his eyes off of me.

“Just visiting an old friend.”He said. I glared at him and shook my head. Kyle looked at me, angrily and confused.

“What is he talking about, Madeline?”Kyle asked. Lorin raised his eyebrow at Kyle’s tone. I closed my eyes and sighed. I opened my eyes again and looked at him.

“He is my friend and I think I should be going now. Come on, Grace!”I called out as I walked away until I was pulled back into a hard chest. Well that failed.

“You’re not going anywhere until you explain this.”Kyle said. I crossed my arms and huffed.

“I swear one of these days…”I muttered. The bell rung and I smiled. Saved by the bell. I grabbed my bag and Grace’s hand pulling her up with me. We walked to class in silence.

“What the hell just happened?”She asked as we took a seat in our class. I tilted my head, looking at her.

“That was a guy that likes me and my boyfriend encounter. Yep, I’m totally screwed.”I groaned and put my head on the cool desk. She rubbed my back, soothingly.

“Oh, honey you are more than screwed.”

I wanted to glare at her but I was too busy thinking about what happened with them. My head shot up as I felt something coming up. I ran out of the classroom, ignoring the teachers calls and into the bathroom.

I ran into one of the stalls and bended over the toliet. There I emptied my stomach. Thank god, our school had clean bathrooms. After I was finished, I flushed the toilet and opened the door. I walked to the bathroom mirror and looked at my reflection.

I turned on the faucet and rinsed my mouth. I felt queasy. I took out a piece of gum from pocket and chewed on it. My breath stunk. After one look in the mirror, I walked back to class.

Kyle stood in front of the door with a worried expression. He pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead.

“Are you okay?”He asked, examining me. He was so caring even after what just happened. I nodded, feeling guilty.

“I’m fine. Probably just I ate.”I assured him. He nodded, hesitantly. His brown eyes looked into mine as he studied me closely.

“Do you want to go home?”He asked. I nodded, feeling sick. He grabbed my bag and led me to his car. He started the engine and we drove off.

Somewhere in the woods on our way home, I told him to pull over. I felt that same queasy feeling again. I opened the door and leaned over the car. I threw up. Kyle pulled my hair back and rubbed my back. Once I was finished again, he drove off.
