Chapter 19

I wake up before George does, and decide to get ready for the day. Once I get dressed, I quietly turn on the TV.
“Breaking News: Queen Alyssa Has Returned! Late last night, we got report that the Queen Luna has returned home. We go live outside the castle now.”
They switch screens to another reporter. They are standing outside the castle. But little do they know that we aren’t inside. I kind of enjoy having this little secret. It’s nice having privacy.

“We got report from the royal guard that the princess has returned. They didn’t give much information except that she returned safely late last night with her brother. And as you all expect, the first thing she did was run into the loving arms of her mate. I’m RJ Newbore, channel 8 news. Back to you,” he says and they switch back to the first news anchor.
“And we will keep you updated through out the day.” she says and goes on about the days news. I shut off the TV, but not before flipping through the channels. All of them playing something about me.

I take a deep breath and listen to deep breaths of my mate. I turn and glance at him, he looks so peaceful. I put on a pair of shoes and walk down to the kitchen. I watch half way down the hall then realize that I have never been out of George room besides to go to his office.

I just keep on walking, noticing stuff as I go. There are so many different spaces in this house, it’s very easy to get lost. That’s how I find myself in a random room. It’s huge, and really bright. I’m a big fan of natural light. It seems this big open room connects to a bedroom.
“You must be Alyssa.” A voice says. I wipe around and see a women. She looks just like George.
“I am. Sorry, is this your room? I got lost.”
She chuckles. She sounds just like George, “No need to apologize.”
“Oh, okay…” I say not know what to say next.
“I’m Audrey. George’s mom.” She says.
“It’s an honor to meet you.” I say. I hold out my hand. But she pulls me into a hug.
“I’ve been waiting for you. You have changed George.”
“I didn’t mean too-“

“In a good way. You changed him in a good way.”
“Oh, thank you?” I say with a sigh smile.

She smiles at me. A maid comes in. “Eleanor, can we get some food in here. And make sure to inform my son where we are when he gets up.” She says, power flooding her voice.
“Yes, ma’ma.” Eleanor says, bows, and leaves the room.
“Please sit down,” She says and starts walking over to a table. I follow her. “Tell me everything.” she says like she is my best friend.
“What do you mean?”
“Tell me how you two met!”
“Oh, George hasn’t told you?” I ask. She looks down and shakes her head no.
“His has been distant from me…” She pauses for a moment before continuing her sentence, “ever since I left.”
“You left? Did you just come back?”

Her eyes glaze over for a moment, before returning to mine. “When I found out that I was mated to the future alpha king, I was so excited. We were madly in love. Once we took over for his parents, he changed. He was always in his office. He never saw me anymore. Only time we did see each other was at night, when he would come to bed. Eventually…he started hitting me. One day, I got fed up and left. At the time, George was 8. It was hard to explain why I was leaving. And why I couldn’t bring him with me.” She is in tears in her eyes but she quickly wipes them away.

“I don’t know what to say.”
She lets out a held in laugh. “You don’t have too. I just way over-shared. I know what George did to his father. George is afraid of becoming him father.”
“I don’t think he could ever be his father.”
“I agree, but George just hasn’t seen it yet.” she says. The food comes in, with George trailing behind.
He kisses my head. “Morning love,” he says. My stomach does a flop. He then sits down next to me, keeping a hand on my knee.

“Glad you could make it, George.”
“Of course mother. What were you two just talking about?” he ask, looking at me. I glance at his mother. “Um, just how we met.”
“Hmm, best day of my life!” George says, and kisses me again.
I give him a light chuckle. George just smiles smugly.
George turns his attention towards his mother. “Um, mom we need to go. We have a busy day.”
“Okay, well I hope to see you both later!” she says as we get up. I look at her.
“It was a pleasure to meet you.”

“Same to you.” I say and follow George out of his mother’s room. As soon as the door closes, he presses me against the wall, and kisses me hard.
“I missed waking up next to you.”
“I’m sorry, I got up early.”

“You should of woke me up.” He says with a slight pout.

“You looked too cute.” I say with a smile. He smirks at me.
“Not as cute as you.” He says and kisses me again. His fingers start to slip under my shirt, when someone clears their throat.
I look over and see a man. He looks about my age, a little taller than me. He has glasses, a good build. A very handsome man.

“Hayden.” George says.
“Uh, yes. The press is waiting.” he says.
“Okay, we will be right there.”
“Okay Alpha.” he says and walks away.
George looks at me. “Now, where were we?”

“We were just going to talk about this press release.”
“We were?” George questions me with a frown.

“Yes, we were.” I say. “What are we going to tell them?”
“I don’t know! I don’t even want to do it. I just want to spend time with you.”
I smile at him. “I want to also. But we have too.”
He grumbles.
“Fine, we will do it later today. Okay?” he asks. Not waiting for me to answer. He kisses me hard. I giggle against his lips. “But right now! To the bedroom!” he says and picks me up, and carries me on his shoulders.
