Chapter 22

The tunnels were much more complicated than we expected, Alyssa kept directing me where to go since I had no sense of direction. It smelt quite damp and had a deathly feel to the tunnel. It wasn’t really a sewer system but it had more of a horror movie – like an abandoned mineshaft.

“Totally not creepy.” I mummered again as we can face-to-face with yet another human sized web.

“Come on, this way.” Alyssa spoke.

I’d told her about Axel and the things he told me. I told her that I wasn’t sure whether or not it was the truth or not because I really didn’t know who he was. I still don’t know his real name.

“Honest opinion?” Alyssa asked. I nodded. “I don’t see why not, you do have similar features.”

“When have you done an analysis of their faces?” I scoffed.

“I am mated to one of them.” She responded with a roll of the eye.” Plus, it’s hard to not look at him.”

I squirmed uncomfortably. “Alyssa, are you sure you know where we are going?” I asked.

“Of course I don’t know where we are going, I’ve never been in these tunnels before.” She responded. “I just know we need to go north.”

“Maybe we should stop for a bit.” I suggested.

“You do realise that they probably know that I am gone, right?” Alyssa spoke. “So it’s best to keep going.”

We continued for another hour and made it to a deadend. I let out an angry groan as I was getting more fustrated each time. I did not want to die in this tunnel.

“Let’s turn around-”

“And go where? We’re lost, admit it.” I said placing my head in my hands.

“We’ll just take a different way, it’s fine Megan.” Alyssa reassured.

I lent my back on the wall and was shocked when it caved in. Was I really that heavy?

I jumped forward in shock and turned along with Alyssa who had a look of shock in her face.

“Oh great, we just rebuilt that!” I heard a girl’s voice and looked up to see a girl with light pink hair staring at the wall with dismay.
“Hello…?” Alyssa started.

The girl looked shocked and placed a hand on her heart. “I didn’t see you there. I’m Fiona.” She introduced. “You must be Alyssa and Megan! Hey!” She sounded abnormally gleeful.

“How’d you know that?” I asked instantly on edge.

“I’ll talk more inside, come on.” I turned to Alyssa who had an identical look on her face. We did not trust this lady.

“Yeah… no…”

“I knew I had to spill the beans.” She laughed. “I’m a clairvoyant.” She spoke. “And you don’t know what that, it someone who sees the future.” She bluntly speaks. “I am here to talk to you two, been waiting a week.”

I looked at Alyssa and shrugged before walking into the hole in the wall. “Don’t worry about that, we’ll be leaving with you guys.”

We wondered down a small corridor and made it to a door inwhich this girl had the key for. She opened it quickly and ushered us in before closing it.

“Fiona?” A male voice was heard.

“I’m here.” Was the response of the perky pink-haired girl. “That’s Aidan, he’s my boyfriend.” She blushed whilst walking in and making her way to him.

Alyssa and I awkwardly walking forward as well following her yet keeping a safe distance until we were sure to trust this girl.

“Aidan, I found Alyssa and Megan!” The guy, who had yet to see us, looked surprised.

“That was quick.” He mummered. “I was just making myself comfortable here.” He joked. He moved his head in our direction. “Hey there.”

“Aidan is a medium.” Fiona told us. “You know what that it though.” And I did, a medium was someone who could communicate with the dead.

“What’s the reason we’re here?” Alyssa asked.

“I’ve been speaking to the dead King.” Aidan confesses. “It sounds weird I know but it’s important.” Alyssa and I turned together confused.

“What’d he say?” Alyssa asked.

“Let’s begin with Megan because I know you are curious.” He was right, I wanted to know what was up with my lineage. “And yes, you are his daughter-” My eyes widened but I wasn’t extremely shocked by this news. “-but you are not the Queen’s daughter. You were born due to the affair of the King and his real mate.” That made me feel uncomfortable. “Your mother tried to hide you yet the Queen had sent you to the pack you spent your childhood at.” I looked over to Alyssa who looked slightly shocked.

“So the Queen ruined my chance at a family?” I asked him.

“Pretty much.” Fiona shrugged – unconsiously unaware that her bluntness was unneccessary.

“That’s not all, Megan your birth name is Faith.” He reveals.

“My birth name?” I’d always thought that Megan was my birth name due to it being so uncommon, I hadn’t even realised that it could’ve possibily been something out. “Faith.” I spoke slowly. “I kind of like it.” I smiled sadly.

It kind of felt like I was gaining some part of me long gone from when I was a child. I felt relieved.

“He wants you to find your mother, she’s still alive out there and loves you.” I hadn’t realised I was tearing up until a rogue tear slipped, I nodded.

“Now onto Alyssa, he apologises for giving you such a dramatic mate.” Alyssa laughed at this. “And gives you his blessing.”

“That means you’re my sister.” I nudged Alyssa and she laughed.

“Yeah…”

“Now onto me!” Fiona cheered. “I know parts of the future but not all of it so bare that in mind. I know that soon this will all be over and I know you’ll meet your mother whether it’s tomorrow or in a year, I’ve seen it.”

Something suddenly hit me, we’ve been believing these people blindly, these people could be insane and feeding our vunerability.

“I don’t believe you.” The words followed effortlessly out of my mouth. “Make me believe you.”

Fiona huffed. “Told you she’d say that.” She said to Aidan. “There’s a message hidden in the King’s old room, it’s in a secret compartment in the fireplace. Now, it will confirm that what we are saying is true. In fact, my parent’s were friends with the King until he was forced to push them away and focus on the wolves.”

“Where are your parents?” I asked.

“Hiding. Like me.” Fiona spoke with sadness until she smiled once more. “But it’s fine, everyone uses us as weapons – clairvoyants – to ensure that their plans will work but my power doesn’t work like that. It comes in confusing dream and gives me inevitable plain each time.”

“We could blurt out who you are and get you killed.” Alyssa spoke. “So why do you trust us?”

She smiled once again, a bigger one if possible. “Because I’ve seen it, I know that we’ll be great friends. I’ve seen it.”

Aidan laughed. “That she has.”
