A week later
I’m in the library reading when George comes striding in.
I glance up from the book I’m reading. George is standing over top of me.
“May I help you?” I ask, looking up at him.
“Yes, you can help me out.” He says sitting down in the chair next to him. My eyes follow.
“With what?”
“You see, the werewolf world hasn’t seen you for a little while, and their getting concerned.”
“Okay? What should we do?”
“Go out in public for a little while. It doesn’t have to be long. Just long enough for them to know your still alive and well.”
“Okay, when?”
“Soon.”
“Okay, just let me know.”
“I will, sweetheart.” He says. He gets up and kisses my head and then walks out of the library leaving me alone.
I sigh, and go back to my book.
A few days later
“Come on! Were going to be late!” George yells from down stairs.
“I’m coming! I’m coming.”
Today were would going out side the walls of my house, and to the public. We invited George’s mother and her boyfriend out for lunch. But before we do that, we decided to met at the Audrey’s house, so that we can all get the awkwardness over.
I walk down the stairs, and over to my mate who is waiting over by the door.
“Since when did you get so excited to do this?” I ask, straightening his tie. He growls at me.
“I didn’t. I just want to get this over with.” He says. He opens the door for me.
“Promise me you’ll be fair.” I say to him. He nods his head, and I walk outside to the car. We get in and drive to Audrey’s house. There’s two cars parked outside.
I unbuckle, and look over to him.
He does the same, but looking back at me.
“Are you ready?” I ask, and he nods his head again.
I get out and wait for him on his side of the car.
He gets out and takes my hand, that I’m holding out to him.
We walk to the front door and we don’t even knock just open it.
We hear talking coming from the porch out back, we head back there and see Audrey sitting; giggling with a man.
“Hey,” I say as we come into the room.
Audrey smiles when she sees us. “Hello darlings!” she says and gets up. She hugs us both and then motions over to the man.
“This is Edwin. Edwin is my son George, and his beautiful mate Alyssa.”
The man turns around and I get the shock of my life.
“Uncle Edwin?!?”
“Alyssa?” He ask.
He gets up and wraps me in a huge hug.
“I thought you were dead.” I say into our hug.
We pull apart and look at each other. “Of course not. I wouldn’t go out that easily” he jokes. I laugh. George growls from behind me.
I turn and look up at him, I smile at him.
“Uncle Edwin this is my mate George, George this is Uncle Edwin.”
Edwin holds out his hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you,”
George hesitantly takes his hand and shakes it.
I sit down on the couch, and George quickly follows.
After a minute of awkward silence, Uncle Edwin breaks it.
“So what have you been up too the last 8 years?”
“Nothing really. Nick has a mate, he’s the alpha now. He has a son, that looks just like him, and a baby on the way.”
“That’s great.”
“Yeah, I’m happy for him. And me? I have this wonderful guy.” I say and stare lovingly at George, he smiles at him, and gives me a quick kiss.
“How’s your parents?” He asks.
“You don’t know?” I ask.
He shakes his head, worry filling his eyes.
“Their dead. They died about a month ago.”
“That’s horrible. I had no idea. How are you coping?” he asks.
“I’m fine.”
“Listen, but since you never were told, or i don’t think you were…..i have something i should tell you.”
“Okay? What is it?”
“Can we do it in private?”
“Yeah, of course.” I say and George growls. I turn to him, “It’ll only take a minute.”
“Fine,” he grumbles, and leaves the room with Audrey.
I turn back to my uncle. “what is it?”
He opens his mouth to reply………
“Your parents aren’t your real parents,” My uncle says.
I sigh I relief that it’s something I don’t know.
“I know,”
He looks up at me; shocked.
“What?!?”
“Yeah. I found out a few months ago, when they died. I’ve reconnected with my real parents!”
“That’s great!”
“Yeah. I’m a lot happier now. As are you,” I point out. He starts to blush.
“It was love at first sight,” Is all he comments.
“When’s the wedding?” I ask, he just laughs.
“Should we get the other two out here?”
“Sure.”
They come out and George immediately comes over to me, check me over, making sure I’m alright.
I laugh. “I’m fine, George!”
His eyes meet mine, silently asking one more time. I just smile. He sits down next too me.
“I’ve heard a lot about you, George.” Edwin says.
“I wish I could say the same.”
We all laugh, expect George. I grab his hand and start rubbing over his knuckles with my finger. It seems to relax him.
“I know, how tough this must be for you, due to the sudden death of your father a few months ago.”
“Of course not. My parents were done a long time ago.”
Edwin begins to talk again, but George cuts him off.
“I’ve come to the conclusion that if my mom has to sit and watch me fall in love, its only fair for me to do the same.”
I’m shocked by the sudden change of heart.
Audrey gets up with tears in her eyes and hugs her son. And I’m soon to follow.
“Thank you.” I whisper in his ear, all he does is nod his head.
“Well saw we head to dinner?”
“Sure.”
We head to the restaurant and after about a half over, there was a crowd of people outside, taking photos.
We enjoy or time as we eat, but as we leave, the reporters start asking me about personal things.
“Are you pregnant?”
“Have you mated?”
“Are you in heat?”
I feel George getting more angry by the minute. I just squeeze his hand.
“King George, do you and your mate plan on having kids soon?”
George snaps. He turns around angrily. “What me and my mate, do in our bedroom is our business, not yours.” He says and spurs me in the car then, starts it and drives away.
